Infographic tells story about the importance of life jackets
This grassroots campaign successfully encouraged more boaters to ‘Wear It!’ for safety.
Hundreds of people die each year while boating.
That’s because they don’t wear life jackets.
The North American Safe Boating Campaign (“Wear It!”)
is a grassroots campaign that tries to educate boaters about the importance of wearing life jackets. The National Safe Boating Council teamed up with Paul Werth Associates
to create an infographic to share this message visually.
We award them the prize for Best Infographic in Ragan’s 2014 PR Daily Awards because it tells a story. Instead of just slapping facts and statistics onto the infographic, it shares a visual message about a family and their dog who wear life jackets. It also has information about the proper way to wear a life jacket and the types of life jackets available.
The infographic was promoted on social media channels by the National Safe Boating Council and through Werth’s media outreach. The infographic, with an accompanying press release, was published in 290 online media outlets. The infographic was also available as a poster and displayed in boating marinas across the country.
Congratulations to Yvonne Pentz, John Predmore, and Mike Innes.
