Daily deal site LivingSocial may be looking for a new deal of its own on a web hosting provider.
The site was down for nearly two days this week, featuring the message, “LivingSocial is temporarily down for maintenance. This won‘t take too long. We'll be back soon.” LivingSocial’s mobile apps were also not functioning properly.
The site went down at about noon Tuesday and wasn’t working again until Thursday morning.
LivingSocial offered this explanation on its blog
We were alerted immediately to the outage and have had teams working non-stop to resolve the issue. We have isolated the problem and will have the site up and running again as soon as possible.
In a separate blog post
Wednesday night, the company offered this: “Suffice to say, we are ashamed and embarrassed.”
The post continued: “We are committed to making this right with you, our customers and our merchants.”

The company stressed that the outage was due to an internal issue, and nothing external. It suffered a cybersecurity breach in April
Meanwhile, one of LivingSocial’s major competitors, Groupon, is in the midst of a huge promotion to give away $5 million in “Groupon Bucks”
as part of its fifth anniversary celebration.
The company overhauled its site earlier this month for the first time in its history.
