Which writing mistake annoys communicators the most? Cliches? Bad punctuation?

We asked and they answered: homophone misuse.

Thirty two percent of more than 560 Ragan.com LinkedIn users cited misuse of words such as addition and edition as the most annoying in this infographic.

Next on the list was cliches, passive voice and trite writing (21 percent), grammar flubs (17 percent), and punctuation abuse (16 percent).

Other writing mistakes that get under their skin included random capitalization, redundancies, changes tenses, and double negatives.
