Last fall, Workhouse PR in New York became the unofficial PR firm of the Occupy Wall Street movement when it sent out a press announcement on behalf of the nascent movement.

On Monday, Workhouse unveiled one of its latest Occupy-inspired projects, a benefit album. According to a press release, the firm “has come to the aid of the Occupy Wall Street movement banding together with producers Jason Samel, Maegan Hayward, Alex Emanuel and Shirley Menard to create the first OWS Benefit Album titled ‘Occupy This Album: A Compilation of Music By, For and Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99%.’”

The album will be released this spring and feature contributions from Crosby & Nash, Yoko Ono, Debbie Harry, Devo, Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, Thievery Corporation, Yo La Tengo, Lucinda Williams, Toots and the Maytals, Loudon Wainwright III, and more.

The press release noted that Occupy This Album was “produced autonomously and this project is in no way, shape or form endorsed by the Arts or Music Working Groups at Occupy Wall St, nor by the movement as a whole.”
