That's awkward! Politician's bus gaffe riles media, Twitter

By Jackson Wightman | Posted: March 21, 2012
The Alberta provincial election in Canada is not officially in swing, but the incumbent Conservative Party may already have a slight advantage over its right-wing rival, the Wildrose Party.

It appears the libertarian upstart group forgot to proof the wrap on its campaign bus. As the Globe and Mail said, "How was it that those two wheels ended up right there, directly under the neckline of a female politician’s campaign bus photo?”

Predictably, the Twitterverse picked up on the “wheel placement issue,” firing off some tweets we’d rather not sure. Others were critical, though instructive:

“Comms 101, lesson 26: Always double check the design for the campaign bus paint job,” tweeted Andrew Stroehlein, director of communications at International Crisis Group.

For her part, Wildrose Party Leader Danielle Smith, handled things well.

As the picture spread across social networks, Smith tweeted: “Glad to see everyone is so interested in our bus. ;) Guess we'll have to make a couple of changes huh?”
