A new study reveals that the average ideal income for happiness in the world is $161,000. But the study unearths an even more important question: Why are Germans so flippin’ happy?
It turns out Germans require nearly half that much money to be happy: $85,781.
Dubai residents, meanwhile, need the most money to be happy at a whopping $276,150. (The United States wasn’t specifically measured.)
Wealth is another story with this study. Globally, those surveyed said they needed about $1.8 million to feel wealthy. Americans were more modest, saying they needed around $1 million to feel wealthy. Singapore and Dubai had the highest standard for wealth at $2.9 million and $2.5 million, respectively.
A
2010 Princeton study found that people achieve happiness at $75,000 a year.
