San Diego officials sorry for botched fireworks show

By Michael Sebastian | Posted: July 5, 2012
The Port of San Diego apologized on Wednesday night for a “technical glitch” that caused its fireworks show to begin 5-minutes early—and lasted about 15 seconds.

“We sincerely apologize for the technical glitch that affected the ‪#BigBayBoom‬,” said a tweet from the Port of San Diego. Big Bay Boom is the name of the show.

A somewhat lengthier apology appeared on the Big Bay Boom website.

No one was hurt in the incident, which is currently under investigation. According to the NBC affiliate in San Diego, Garden State Fireworks was hired to operate the show.
