Arby’s find social media marketing success with Facebook Timeline

By Kevin Allen | Posted: July 24, 2012
Since brands initially made the transition to Facebook’s timeline format last spring, it’s been a bit of a mystery how to take full advantage of the milestone feature. But roast beef enthusiasts Arby’s found a way to make it work.

To celebrate its 48th anniversary, the fast food franchise is offering a coupon for a $0.64 roast beef sandwich—the same price it was when the company first launched in 1964.

"We thought it would be a clever way to leverage Facebook's new timeline functionality and have fans scroll back in time to redeem our anniversary offer," Jo Ann Herold, VP of communications and public relations at Arby's Restaurant Group told Clickz.com.

Arby’s has tapped into something its nearly 1.2 million Facebook fans clearly appreciate—a good deal. Today’s post is nearing 2,000 likes.

Food for thought when it comes to Facebook promotions.
