Community manager: 5 ways to busy yourself when Twitter crashes

By PR Daily Staff | Posted: July 27, 2012
Editor’s note: Community managers and PR professionals spend a lot of time on Twitter. So, when the social network crashed on Thursday afternoon for about three hours, we asked a brand’s community manager to share some things that others in his shoes could do to wile away the time. Here’s his list:

1. Watch a woman overreact to the news that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson.
Or perhaps overreact yourself. I mean, it is pretty shocking stuff.

2. Pay homage to the 10 strangest Olympic sports. My personal favorite is race walking because it’s one Olympic sport in which there can’t be much division between the world’s greatest walker and me. See the list from CNN here.

And while you’re at it, follow these Olympians on social media.

3. Three words: Kitten. Massage. Therapy.

4. Play an office version of The Floor is Lava. Your boss won’t mind once you’ve effectively explained the rules. Here they are.

5. Go outside. Take a walk. Maybe visit a park. Then again … nah. It’s probably way too hot, anyway.
