PBS whips up video remix in honor of Julia Child’s 100th birthday

I’d never give Julia Child a store-bought confectionary creation, nor would I buy the late French cooking icon a premade cake mix—a remix on the other hand … Like Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross before her, PBS Digital Studios honored the renowned cookbook queen’s 100th birthday by baking up some culinary magic in its new video dubbed, “Keep on Cooking.”



Meanwhile, Nike whipped up this tasteless shirt reading “Gold Digging” to honor our female Olympians who proudly returned from London with their golden hardware. Critics are panning the brand’s design as sexist.

Although the Summer Games are over, the “Twag” Olympics are never-ending—“twag” referring to a “Twitter brag.” See whose outlandish 140-character swagger earned them The Huffington Post’s dishonorable medals here.

Of course, with so much incessant boasting on social media, it’s no surprise technology could nauseate you. Luckily, there are a few cures.

It appears that even Twitter is looking beyond Twitter. The site’s founders, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, unveiled their newest digital venture, a Web-based, collaborative publishing platform called Medium.

Social networking rival Facebook comforted a world of disconcertingly drunken college students and the photogenically challenged by finally deleting users’ deleted photos.

It’s the photo from longtime Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s first-ever cover that caught the world of fashion publishing off guard, but in a good way. Wintour recounts the story here as part of the magazine’s 120th anniversary.

A different cover photo isn’t getting as much love, but definitely earning a lot of press. Retailers in seven countries have refused to sell the newest issue of the British fashion and music magazine Dazed & Confused, which shows rapper Azaelia Banks blowing up a condom.

One thing I won’t refuse: a second season of AMC’s “The Pitch.”

As for the imminent NFL season, Rolling Stone reports Cee Lo Green will lend his voice to this year’s “Thursday Night Football” theme called “I Love Football.” Set to the tune of the Ramone’s “Blitzkrieg Bop,” the song will debut when the Chicago Bears take on the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 13.

Similarly, the Dallas Cowboys recently released its newest anthem called “Get Up,” which was recorded by proud Texan and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Have a listen here.

A standard airline policy that’s recently come under fire requires men to get up and move seats when they’re next to unaccompanied minors on international flights. You know, because they obviously must be pedophiles.

Not to end on a sour note, enjoy watching this video of Al Roker presumably throwing his fellow morning show cast member Matt Laurel and “Today” executives “under the bus.”
