Study: Indian brands are surging on social media

By Kevin Allen | Posted: September 19, 2012
It’s been a fantastic year in social media for many of India’s top brands. A recent Ketchum Sampark study revealed that since January, Indian brands are growing their social media fan bases much faster than global brands.

The group’s Social Media Engagement Study 2012 analyzed 100 Indian brands and 100 global brands, and found that the Indian brands have grown, on average, from 8 percent to 16 percent faster than the global ones.

According to the study, the combined fan base for the 100 Indian brands more than doubled this year, showing 105 percent growth.

Ketchum Sampark managing partner Ajay Sharma attributed the rapid growth, in part, to the growing mobile Web usage in the country.
