If you’re stuck in a salary rut at work, here’s an option: Hit the gym.
Researchers at Cleveland State found that men who exercise three or more times per week generally see 6 percent higher pay, while women who work out at least three times a week tend to see a 10 percent bump.
So, how does it work?
MensHealth.com explains:
“Studies have shown that exercise increases your intelligence, positive attitude, and energy levels, says study author Vasilis Kosteas, Ph.D., an economics professor at Cleveland State University. ‘Each of these factors in turn can raise a person’s productivity, leading to higher earnings,’ Kosteas says. Basically, you feel better and work better when you exercise, and that translates to a heftier paycheck.”
Combine working out with a strong cup of coffee—which has been
shown to boost productivity—and you’ll be an office dynamo.
