Borrowing a page from Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn unveiled a new feature that allows users to tag other users in posts. It’s akin to tagging someone on Facebook or mentioning on Twitter.
LinkedIn hopes it will help spark conversations on the network. Here’s how it works, according to the LinkedIn Blog
• Begin by typing the name of a connection or a company in your status update box or a comment field on the Homepage.
• Select someone from the list of your connections that appear in the drop-down, complete your status or comment and post it.
• The person or company you mentioned will receive a notification alerting them that they have been mentioned.
The feature began rolling out last week to its users—a busy time in the social media world as Facebook announced its new Home software for Android phones.
For business-to-business marketers who rely on the service for their social marketing, this should eventually help you track who’s talking about you and sharing your content—as long as people use the feature.
