Would you pay $41,000 for the recipe for a widely consumed, incredibly successful product? That’s what Ayes Giray says her ex-husband did, making him one of the world’s most successful yogurt moguls.
Giray says that Chobani founder Hamdi Ulukaya traveled to Europe and paid a former Fage employee 30,000 euros for the company’s secret yogurt recipe. The New York Post first reported the court filings
It’s looking like a pretty messy divorce, with Giray claiming she owns a 53 percent stake in the company due to a half-million-dollar investment in the company. Ulukaya is also accused of stealing checks from his brother and forging his brother’s signature.
Ulukaya’s court filing claims that the Fage story is “completely baseless.” A Chobani spokesman likewise said the accusation is “baseless and without merits.”

Giray has asked the judge in the divorce case to halt any Chobani sales that could affect her claimed ownership stake.
