Turkish hair removal company mistakenly uses al-Queda leader as model

The cosmetics brand unknowingly featured a picture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in its advertisements and said the choice was made “for his hair, not terrorism.”

If you’ve only seen one photo of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the man widely regarded as the mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it’s probably that of him wearing a wide-necked white T-shirt with body hair billowing out.

It’s not a great look. It’s also apparently a widely used meme in Turkey.

And that is why Turkish hair removal company Epila thought it would be a good idea to feature the former al-Qaeda leader on its ads.
