Crayola apologizes for hackers’ ‘offensive’ posts on Facebook

The crayon brand’s Facebook page was overtaken by hackers with a juvenile sense of humor over the weekend.

Every social media manager’s nightmare came true for Crayola over the weekend.

The brand, known primarily for its brand of crayons, markers and colored pencils marketed to kids, was hacked by what one can only assume was a middle schooler with some raging hormones.

The fraudulent posts can been seen in their entirety over at AdWeek, and suffice to say they’re not safe for work. They were mostly links to posts about anatomy and sex.

As it was happening, Crayola sent this from its verified Twitter account:

We’re aware of the situation on our official FB page, which was hacked today, and making every effort to stop the unauthorized posts.
