Comedian Will Ferrell knows how to spark a great headline.

The “Anchorman” star and “Saturday Night Live” legend lived out every baseball fan’s fantasy by taking the field at every position for 10 different Major League teams Thursday. It’s all for a good cause—to help fight cancer. Memorabilia from the day will be auctioned off to support organizations including Cancer for College, which provides scholarships to cancer survivors, and Stand Up to Cancer. The whole thing honors an odd figure in MLB history:

On Sept. 8, 1965, Bert “Campy” Campaneris, in only his second Major League season, went 0-for-3 playing all nine positions for the Kansas City Athletics in a game against the California Angels. Campaneris is expected to be there with Ferrell as he begins his journey.

MLB.com is providing live look-ins throughout the day, and you can follow the action with hashtag #FerrellTakesTheField on Twitter.
