RadioShack plan to sell customer data raises objections
The bidder that bought up a chunk of the bankrupt retail chain may auction off email addresses, phone numbers and other info to the highest bidder. (Update)
For 94 years, RadioShack provided the world with various and sundry wires, gadgets and just about anything you could plug in. Now in the throes of bankruptcy, the company has sold its copious amounts of customer data to the highest bidder.
That bidder, RadioShack creditor Standard General, now owns reams of email addresses, phone numbers and other customer information that it can then turn around and resell.
