There are things for which PR pros could be thankful daily—things that would make pitching stories to reporters much easier.

Here are five small yet very important things journalists could do to make our lives easier and elicit our gratitude:

1. Make your email address easy to find.

If you’re a reporter who wants new stories, help PR people out: Put your email address in your article, website bio, or on your Twitter profile.

I might have a story that’s perfect for you, but if I have to scour the Internet for hours to find your email address, I’m likely to move on.

2. Share your location.

I’ve found your email address and I’m ready to pitch you, but I don’t know where you work.

I want to send you my pitch during your work hours, but if I don’t know which country, state, city, or time zone you’re in, odds are my pitch won’t reach you at a convenient time. Reporters who list their locations earn the thanks of all PR pros.

3. Dish what you cover.

Tell us in your article, website, or Twitter bio what stories and fields you cover.
