5 popular novels hitting the big screen this year

By Michael Sebastian | Posted: May 25, 2012
These days, most studio films are sequels, board games, or book adaptations.

This year, for example, there are a number of sequels hitting the big screen—from “The Dark Knight Rises” to “The Bourne Legacy”; there’s a film inspired by the board game, Battleship; and there are a slew of books turned into movies, among them “The Hunger Games,” “The Lorax,” “The Vow,” and “One for the Money.”

Several more book adaptations will premiere this year. Here are six PR Daily is … curious to see. We’ll hold our applause until after the credits roll.

1. “The Great Gatsby,” by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Release date: Christmas 2012

2. “On The Road,” by Jack Kerouac

3. “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer,” by Seth Grahame-Smith

4. “The Hobbit,” by J.R.R. Tolkien

5. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” by Stephen Chobsky
