According to a report on U.K.-based website Brand Republic
, Google is still the most visited website in Europe, but social networks are keeping consumers engaged for the longest amounts of time.
The research, conducted by comScore, found that Russian social network VKontakte had the highest average engagement, with visitors spending 6.8 hours on the site during March.
Perhaps not as surprising, Facebook accounted for the highest number of page views in March, with 109.9 billion, representing 11.3 per cent of all pages viewed that month.
In total, 363.7 million Europeans spent an average of 26 hours each in front of computers, although Dutch users went far beyond this, spending 34.4 hours—33 percent more than the average—followed by the British with 33 hours.
Austrians ranked last, spending just 13.8 hours in front of the computer, followed by the Italians with 17.9 hours.
