Twitter gaffe: Errant tweet from official Secret Service feed mocks Fox News

By Michael Sebastian | Posted: May 19, 2011
Someone tweeting from the official Secret Service feed sent this message on Wednesday:

“Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can’t. Deal. With. The. Blathering.”

The tweet was almost immediately deleted, but not before it was retweeted, captured as a screenshot, and even photographed with an iPhone.

The Secret Service offered this response to ABC News:

“An employee with access to the Secret Service's Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet. The tweet did not reflect the views of the U.S. Secret Service and it was immediately removed. We apologize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account.”

So, there you go. These things even happen to the people charged with protecting the president’s life.
