We’ve got news for all those social media marketers who envision a utopian touchy, feely relationship with their fans: They only want your discounts.

Customer relationship management specialists Get Satisfaction have found that the top reason that people follow brands (40 percent) is to take advantage of special offers and deals. There’s even an infographic to prove it.

Kind of cheapens the whole notion of fandom, doesn’t it? And here you thought you were building a meaningful relationship.
