If you’ve ventured into the wide (and wild) world of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or the invite-frenzy that is Google +, you know a thing or two about social media personalities.
We took to our Facebook page to find out which types of social media personalities drive our readers crazy. We started with five options and wound up with a robust—and hilarious—20 poll choices.
More than 500 people participated
in the poll.
Here’s the breakdown:
128 people can’t stand the “Over-Sharer.”
You know “The Over-Sharers”—you really, really know them. They tell you what they had for breakfast, why they’re still crushing on JT, and what they just bought at Forever 21—and they’re pushing 40.
74 people have had it up to here with “The Blatant Marketer.”
“The Blatant Marketers” want you to buy their stuff. They don’t care who you are or where you are as long as you buy, buy, buy! (That’s two N’Sync references in one post. This must be your lucky day.)
63 people are done with the “I-don’t-have-anything-positive-to-say” personality.
You’re a walking Fail Whale. Save it for a therapist. Or your mom. Stop raining on our social media parades.
45 people can’t take “The Spammer.”
It’s spam. There are some things you don’t want on your plate, especially when you haven’t looked at a menu, much less ordered anything. Online spam is unwanted as a DM, repeat tweet, or Facebook post. [
Ed.’s note: SPAM, the canned meat, can be quite delicious, if a tad salty. After all, a dozen singing Vikings can’t be wrong.]
35 people are over “The Caps Lover.”
There’s something to be said for subtlety. DON’T YOU THINK?
34 people are fed up with “The Under-Sharer.”
I’m not sure what to say about “The Under-Sharers,” because I have no idea what they’re talking about. Is it an inside joke—with themselves? Did they post to the wrong platform? We may never know.
Both the ‘I-don’t-have-anything-positive-to-say’ and ‘The Under-Sharer’ were fun additions—of which there were many—from
PR Daily readers.
Other options included: “The Foursquare User,” “The Foul Mouth,” “The Acronym User,” “The Self-Proclaimed Social Media Expert,” and more.
