Report: Apple to unveil new iPhone on October 4

By Kevin Allen | Posted: September 22, 2011
When Apple holds its next Big Event on Oct. 4, its new CEO, Tim Cook, will lead the proceedings.

But will Cook be upstaged by the product he’s introducing? If it’s the iPhone5 as some, including All Things Digital, are speculating then the answer is yes.

According to All Things Digital:

“While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the Oct. 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.”

If this is, in fact, Cook’s first major product launch, it will set the tone for the company in the public’s eye moving forward. Apple’s stock is at an all-time high. Whether the upward swing continues will depend heavily on the events of Oct. 4.
