10 tweetable—and inspirational—writing tips

By Samantha Hosenkamp | Posted: October 14, 2011
On Thursday, Ragan Communications, publisher of PR Daily, hosted its Corporate Writers and Editors Conference in Chicago. I was in the crowd and pulled together 10 tweetable tips from a few of the speakers, including some from Mark Ragan, CEO of Ragan Communications, and Sonia Simone, the chief marketing officer at Copyblogger.

You run this town

“Empower writers, because the writer runs the show. Quality content gets you where you want to go.” @SoniaSimone

Get glossy

RT @wiredprworks: Headline ideas: go to http://t.co/jtcJkUEg look at Cosmo, Fitness etc @SoniaSimone

Think refrigeration

Refrigerator Journalism: "Something you like so much, you cut it out & place on your fridge - easy to read & knows what you want.” @MarkRaganCEO

Relinquish control

“It’s not your brand, it’s theirs. You put it out there & they're sharing it. You can’t control the conversation.” @SoniaSimone

Quality counts

"Content quality always comes first, always." @SoniaSimone

You’re not just a writer

“Communicators need to think of themselves as writers AND advertisers.” @MarkRaganCEO

Fight for the right to write well

"Be warriors. Insist on being relevant, interesting and useful." @SoniaSimone

Can you tweet it?

“Visualize your content headline on Twitter as you’re writing. Does it work?” @SoniaSimone

And now for some math

“Writing should be: 40 percent preparation, 20 writing, 40 editing/rewriting.” @PubCoach

It’s do or die
