When Lennon split from the Beatles, there was Yoko. Brad and Jen—Angelina. But what could have caused
a split between two of candy’s most synonymous names? Mike’s music, apparently. At least that’s what Ike says in a new marketing campaign that aims to introduce the chewy candies to a new generation. The campaign kicked off with an announcement of their separation. Team Ike.
If Mike and Ike are going to make it through this trying time, they had better not be a sale item on the shelves at Rite Aid. If so, consumers probably wouldn’t find any of the candy in stock, as is the case with a large portion of the store’s advertised, discounted products
nearly 80 percent of the time. Tricky, tricky.
At 90 years young, Betty White shows you’re never too old to learn new tricks. Only this time, the trick was on her “Hot in Cleveland” costar Valerie Bertinelli. When
an “official” Betty White Twitter handle launched on Tuesday evening, the Hollywood legend feigned ignorance about it. It wasn’t until Bertinelli later cautioned her own followers about the account that she learned someone should have cautioned her not to be so gullible. Turns out,
@BettyMWhite is the real deal.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese has some time before it hits 90, but to celebrate its 75th birthday the company handed the keys to its
Twitter and
Facebook accounts to a couple of “
old birds” by the names of Dottie and Frankie. They’ve been devouring the gooey goodness throughout the brand’s entire history.
Not that Dottie and Frankie weren’t a joy to get to know, but I think it’s time that you
meet Joe Muto—
Gawker’s “Fox Mole,” who’s been suspended for his actions.
Meanwhile, over at Fox’s rival CNN,
Anderson Cooper’s on-air composure met its demise (again), this time at the mention of a pussy willow.
Cooper isn’t the only one losing it.
Advertising Age reports that magazine publishers are losing out on marketing dollars in large part due to the budget allocation of food, drug, and auto advertisers.
It was one particular magazine that landed Panamanian soccer star Felipe Baloy in some hot water. But his gaffe provides a valuable lesson to any professional athletes: When you take photos with your young fans,
don’t do it with
a Playboy magazine visible in your hands. Of course, I’m sure he reads it for the articles.
Lady Gaga is in some hot water with her Little Monsters for sending
a tweet with the hashtag #PopSingersDontEat. According to the pop star,
they just drink.
Either way, I’m sure Gaga could use a hug right about now. Lucky for her,
Coca-Cola has a soda machine for that very purpose. In fact, you’ll even get a free Coke for showing it a little love.
