NPR apologizes to 4-year-old for making her cry

By Alan Pearcy | Posted: November 2, 2012
Like many of us, Abigael Evans is tired of 2012’s seemingly never-ending president campaign. Evans is so tired, in fact, that an NPR report about the candidates—“Bronco Bamma and Mitt Romney”—that she heard while riding in her mother’s car made the four-year-old burst into tears.

The adorable (and heartbreaking) moment was caught on video and posted to YouTube, where on Tuesday it went viral, amassing more than 1 million views thus far.

In a slightly tongue-in cheek blog post, NPR said it was sorry to Abigael.
“On behalf of NPR and all other news outlets, we apologize to Abigael and all the many others who probably feel like her. We must confess, the campaign's gone on long enough for us, too.
Don’t worry, Abigael (and NPR)—it’s almost over.
