Mitt Romney clinched the Republican nomination last night and released an iPhone app that went viral—for the wrong reasons.

The photo-sharing app, in which users take a photo and lay one of 14 Romney campaign slogans over the image (such as “I’m a mom for Mitt”), features a glaring oversight: One of the slogans says, “A Better Amercia.”

Mashable discovered the error and, shortly after reporting on it, the gaffe went viral, inspiring countless tweets, blog posts, and the inevitable Tumblr account: Amercia is with Mitt.

The Atlantic Wire is calling for the culprit’s head, insisting, “Romney needs to fire whoever can’t spell ‘America.’” That seems a bit harsh since all of us have made typos—the most-recent high-profile errors came from the University of Texas—it’s just that our errors haven’t caught fire on the Web.

Be thankful for that.
