Will the press materials you create ever become collectors’ items?
On Wednesday, a Reddit user posted photos of a press kit
for the 1982 movie The Thing, which he says he bought.
It has everything you’d expect from a 1982 press kit: Collateral material printed in Courier font, movie stills printed on photo paper, and a photo of Kurt Russell looking like Hall of Fame pitcher Bruce Sutter (circa 1982, appropriately enough).
In the comments section
, original poster, “fjposter2” says that he bought the press kit for $100 at a flea market in Phoenix.
It’s worth a look (here
) if only to appreciate how far the profession has come, and to remind yourself of what the PR world of 1982 looked like.
