Retailers remove dead-dog novelty item after complaints

Explanations from Walmart, Sears, and Amazon all pleaded ignorance of the item, which mimics roadkill.

Those emotions can range from pure joy (think of kitten videos) to absolute rage.

A few high-profile retailers have pushed the “absolute rage” button.

The targets of animal lovers’ ire are Sears, Walmart, and Amazon.com. On their respective sites a third-party vendor posted an item called “Dead Dog Prop.”

It is exactly what it sounds like: “Foam filled latex prop of a skinned dog with a large tire track squished through its mid torso. Chain attached for dragging purposes. You have seen bloody road kill, this is bloody road kill,” according to the description.

This is a piece of foam, mind you. Not an actual animal.

Each company saw its share of negative Facebook posts (some choice samples of which you can find on the Consumerist website).
