For Millennials (or those bright scamps of Generation Y, as we call them around my office) the best place to look for work is currently Seattle. The Emerald City ranked first in the company’s survey of the best large metro areas for Gen Y workers.
The survey was conducted by Salary, Inc., which is based in Seattle, and Millennial Branding, and published
here as part of an impressive overview titled “Gen Y on the Job.” Wage growth, median pay, commute times, and the number of millennials on the job all contributed to the rankings.
Here are the top 11 (you’re welcome, Chicagoans) best-paying cities for Millennials:
1. Seattle
2. Houston
3. Minneapolis
4. Washington, DC
5. Boston
6. Dallas
7. New York
8. Tampa
9 – tie Philadelphia
9 – tie San Francisco
11. Chicago
For the uninitiated, Generation Y is usually considered those born in 1980 and later.
