VW begins making amends with customers

The automaker will give gift cards, dealership credit and three years of roadside assistance to customers affected by the emissions scandal.

Who wouldn’t like a $500 Visa gift card?

The rebuilding process, such as it is, has begun for Volkswagen.

In the wake of intense negative publicity stemming from its installation of emissions test-cheating software in hundreds of thousands of cars, Volkswagen is making nice with its customers.

Volkswagen will issue the gift cards, along with another $500 in dealership credit, to nearly 500,000 Volkswagen diesel car owners. The company also is offering three years of roadside assistance.
