Like many consumer brands, the AMC Theatres Twitter feed
spends much of its time responding to customers.
Tweets such as “Sorry. Thank you for letting us know.” are among the most common (as well as messages promoting movies coming to AMC screens).
This week, however, @AMCTheatre had some fun.
The @Oreo account on Monday posed this question to its followers
: “Ever bring your own Oreo cookies to the movie theater? #slicksnacker
Which drew this reply
from @AMCTheatres: “NOT COOL, COOKIE.”
The three-word message was retweeted more than 500 times and received glowing replies, such as “I love you
The tweets from Oreo and AMC are reminiscent of the exchange this summer between Old Spice and Taco Bell
Interestingly, at least one other theater chain tweeted @Oreo, although the result was far less memorable and drew some back backlash.
Cinemark Theatres replied
: “@Oreo - We hope not! #Oreo Should work with us on a creative way to make an Oreo cookie flavor to put on our popcorn. Mmm!”
Several people tweeted back to Cinemark, calling the company “lame” and suggesting that its tweet was “disgusting.” Plus, there was this reply
“Why? So you guys can charge $12 for it, then not train your people how to properly make it?”
