Every weekday, PR Daily associate editor Alan Pearcy highlights the day’s most compelling stories and amusing marginalia on the Web in this, #TheDailySpin.
Few things drive a wedge into relationships like opinions on politics and pizza toppings. If you want spinach and chicken, get a salad. Pineapple and ham—go to a luau. Aware of its consumers’ strong-mindedness on pie garnishes, Pizza Hut is challenging one attendee at next week’s town hall debate to ask the presidential candidates the real, hard-pressing question that matters:
Pepperoni or sausage?
I wonder how their respective answers might affect the polls? And by that I mean the non-scientific,
brand-based polls that really matter.

Either way, with just under a month to go before Election Day, more backers are coming out in support of their White House contender of choice. Of course, pledging one’s allegiance doesn’t always come easy. Take “Clueless” star Stacy Dash, for instance. The African-American actress
drew racial backlash after vowing her support to Romney.

Southwest is doing its part to give back to vacationers in communities the airline serves. The carrier is offering 40 percent off flights as part of its
Big Winter Sale. However, you’ll need to make those travel plans soon. To snag the promotion, you must book by Thursday evening at 11:59 PT.
Otherwise, perhaps you can snag a ride on the Wal-Mart truck. The big-box retailer is
testing same-day delivery, so at least you’d get to your destination quick.
And while other retailers are testing the
rollout of Facebook’s “want” button for brands, there’s one man at the social network with a “dislike” button. Meet
Chuck Rossi,
the release engineer of Silicon Valley.
