I’m one of those people who check their phone, iPad, or laptop regularly from right before it’s time to sleep. I’ve been told repeatedly that this is bad for me.
I tend not to care, but a recent infographic titled “
Getting in Bed With Gadgets” has me reconsidering my disregard.
I’m certainly not alone in my love of illuminated screens. In fact, 95 percent of people say they regularly browse the Web, send text messages, or watch TV in the hour before trying to sleep.
Turns out, this behavior can lead to a decrease in melatonin, making it harder to fall asleep—and I think we’re all well aware of what happens when we lose sleep.
As the infographic suggests, when you go to sleep, it might be advisable to put your gadgets to bed, too:
