A strong sense of community in one’s neighborhood is often what makes an ordinary house a home.

In South Florida, that sense of community is largely in part thanks to a recent effort by two local nonprofit organizations. Enlisting the help of agency Marketing Matters, both Neighbors 4 Neighbors and Hands On Miami came together as only neighbors can to envision a means of empowering every person in South Florida with the knowledge that they have something of value to share with a neighbor in need.

That vision culminated in the launch of HelpingFeelsGood.org.

The website serves as a venue to share stories, inspire action, and ultimately create change for the area’s neighbors in need by connecting those who want to help—whether it be through the donation of time, services, or goods—with those who need it most.

In order for this to work, however, Marketing Matters first had to establish an effective and efficient database for recruiting and retaining donors, as well as products and services that would match with local nonprofit needs.

Make that three databases, actually: a registration for nonprofits, a place where companies/organizations can offer their services, and a database for those that need help.

In the first month of its launch, HelpingFeelsGood.org registered 120 volunteers, signed up 36 not-for-profit agencies with 46 case workers registered, and listed 35 projects.

Certainly, doing so much positive work in the community must feel good on its own, but hopefully, we can make the effort feel even better by giving something back to Marketing Matters and both the local organizations, as well.
