Twitter exploding with apologies due to Go Daddy outage

By Michael Sebastian | Posted: September 11, 2012
Pray to whomever you might pray that you’re not part of Go Daddy’s PR team.

The website-hosting company experienced an outage today for which AnonymousOwn3r—an offshoot of the hacker group Anonymous—is taking credit. Because Go Daddy hosts blogs and websites, potentially millions of other sites were affected by the outage.

Throughout the afternoon on Monday Go Daddy was a trending topic on Twitter, as the company sent several tweets updating the public on the state of the outage. It also apologized several times in mass tweets and numerous times in @ replies to users.

In fact, Twitter was packed with apologies on Monday as companies affected by the outage—that is, their websites were down because they were hosted by Go Daddy—tweeted to their customers.
