The Romney campaign experienced a
series of gaffes during the presumptive GOP candidate’s trip abroad—one of which was committed by his spokesperson.
As a result, campaign officials benched him.
Rick Gorka, the traveling press secretary for Gov. Romney, will be taking some time off the campaign trail, according to
ABC News. Gorka had traveled with Romney during all of his campaigns stops, in the U.S. and abroad.
The incident that presumably led to Gorka’s sidelining occurred on Tuesday when he
snapped at reporters who were shouting questions at Romney as he returned to his car after visiting a Polish war memorial in Warsaw. The majority of the questions focused on the trip’s gaffes, prompting Gorka to shout: “Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.”
Gorka reportedly apologized to the reporters about a half-hour later, but the damage was done—the outburst became a major news story.
