Coca-Cola, meanwhile, surged into third place from 15th last year. Amazon and Kraft Foods are Nos. 4 and 5 on the list, respectively.

In December, Harris Interactive asked 17,000 people to rate the nation’s 60 most visible companies in six categories: social responsibility, emotional appeal, financial performance, products and services, vision and leadership, and workplace environment.

According to Harris Interactive’s Robert Fronk, companies are gaining points among consumers for associated themselves with multiple industries.

“Companies like Apple, Google, and Amazon.com combine innovation and leadership across multiple business areas, giving them true competitive advantage,” he said in a press release.
