Uber: Protesting Paris taxi drivers are a ‘small minority’

French President Francois Hollande condemned protests that turned violent, but he also said the American car service ‘doesn’t respect any laws.’

A series of taxi driver protests in Paris turned violent this week, disrupting traffic and resulting in damage to cars. Some photos showed that fires had broken out.

Singer Courtney Love Cobain, who got caught up in the chaos, tweeted a photo:

With whom are the taxi drivers so angry? Uber. CNN explains:

The UberPOP app was ruled illegal by the French government last year, but the U.S. company hasn’t yet exhausted all legal recourse and has told its drivers to keep operating.
