Let’s hear it for second chances.
Not only is Hot or Not, the Internet phenomenon of the early 2000s that asked people to rate photos users posted based on attractiveness, relaunching as a mobile app under the umbrella of U.K.-based dating site Badoo, it has hired Justine Sacco, the disgraced former corporate communications director at Match.com parent company IAC.
Sacco was fired from IAC in December
for tweeting: “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” She’ll be heading up Badoo’s PR push for the new Hot or Not, according to BuzzFeed
After apologizing for her tweet, Sacco reportedly spent the entire month of March in Ethiopia doing volunteer work.
Sacco’s Twitter account
isn’t hers anymore—she abandoned it. The account has been taken over by someone who tweets exclusively about “racial, social, and economic justice.” Sacco apparently still does have a LinkedIn account
, but it’s mostly barren.
