Project Manager with American Girl

By Alan Pearcy | Posted: July 18, 2012
As a kid, I had a handmade sock monkey that I took with me everywhere. Preschool, parks, bedtime, family trips—good thing my parents convinced me sock monkeys couldn’t swim, otherwise it would have accompanied me to the bathtub.

But the day came when sock monkey and I had to part ways. I’ll never forgive you kindergarten. I imagine the separation anxiety felt by young girls torn away from their American Girl dolls was equally as traumatic.

That said, I’ve always been told that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and at least for those fans of Addy or Josefina, a reunion might be in the works. The Mattel-owned doll maker is hiring a project manager to ensure that the brand and its products continue to befriend a new generation of young ladies for years to come. Of course, the job is also open to fans of G.I. Joe or, as it were, sock monkeys.
