Twitter, Instagram buzzing about Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day

Just when you thought the story was dead—wham! The backlash to the backlash takes over social media as more than 50,000 images related to Chick-fil-A are shared on Instagram. UPDATED

Judging by social media buzz, Wednesday’s Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was a success.

Twitter users churned out countless tweets expressing their support for the fast-food chain and shared pictures of packed Chick-fil-A locations. In fact, around mid-afternoon on Wednesday, there were more than 50,000 Chick-fil-A images shared on Instagram.

“Standing in line at #ChickFilA to show my support,” said one Twitter user. “HUGE turnout! Nice to see people care …”

Another supporter tweeted: “#chickfila across the country! This is going crazy. So cool to see people standing up for what they believe.” And shared this Instagram shot:

Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day started as a Facebook campaign to support the fast feeder, which drew flak—and a boycott—when last month its president expressed support for traditional marriage.
