Survey identifies the ‘coolest’ brands, countries and people

By Kevin Allen | Posted: June 1, 2012
A telltale sign of growing old is a lack of knowing what’s cool. Those who are looking to stay current or feel young at heart, take heed: InSites Consulting has you covered.

Recently, the company unveiled a list of the coolest brands, countries and people.

In the brands category, nearly 80 percent of Americans age 15-25 deem Apple and its iPhone “cool.” Converse and Sony came in second at 66 percent. Other cool brands are H&M, Nike, Nintendo and Coca-Cola, with about 6 out of 10 youngsters labeling them as such.

When it comes to celebs, Johnny Depp, Barack Obama, and Lady Gaga are the coolest. According to an InSites press release: “Angela Merkel and Richard Branson on the other hand cannot count on the youth’s appreciation. They compose the list of least cool famous people, nobody in the U.S. thought they were cool.” Ouch.

Only 43 percent of Americans consider their country cool. Not the case in France, where 58 percent said their homeland is the bee’s knees, followed by Russia (61 percent), Poland (64 percent), and India (67 percent).

New York, however, is the coolest city in the world.
