Someone left this interview with egg on his face. But was it GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan or Terry Camp of the ABC affiliate in Flint, Mich.?
The two squared off in an interview, which has drawn attention on the Web due to the congressman’s so-called testiness as well as a media quarrel that swirled after BuzzFeed posted the clip
As New York magazine points out
’s Andrew Kaczynski shared the video under this headline, “Paul Ryan Gets Testy and Walks Out of Interview.” That headline drew a rebuke on Twitter from the New York Post
’s John Podhoretz, who said
“@buzzfeedandrew Listen, little boy--when you do something wrong you change it. That's what a grown up journalist does. Grow up, child.”
Podhoretz later apologized for the outburst, and BuzzFeed
tweaked the headline.
In the interview
, Camp presses Ryan on gun control and follows-up with a remark about cutting taxes. Ryan appeared annoyed, and one of his campaign staffers jumped in and ended the interview. He did not, as BuzzFeed
suggested, walk out.

The campaign gave this statement to BuzzFeed
about the incident:
“The reporter knew he was already well over the allotted time for the interview when he decided to ask a weird question relating gun violence to tax cuts. Ryan responded as anyone would in such a strange situation. When you do nearly 200 interviews in a couple months, eventually you’re going to see a local reporter embarrass himself.”
In its coverage of the incident, The Huffington Post
noted that Ryan believes there is a liberal media bias.
