Uber exec: Remarks about investigating journalists ‘do not reflect my actual views’

The car sharing service is back in the news after Senior Vice President of Business Emil Michael suggested in remarks at a private dinner spending $1 million to dig up dirt on reporters. (Updated)

Just what prompted people to call the company “evil”? Buzzfeed reported Monday about remarks a top executive, Senior Vice President of Business Emil Michael, made at a Friday dinner in Manhattan. He suggested spending $1 million to hire researchers to dig up dirt on members of the press, going so far as to investigate “your personal lives, your families.”

Michael didn’t say Uber has such a team, but said it would make sense.
