‘I want an apology sent to my wife’

1-800 Flowers failed to deliver many of its orders on Valentine’s Day, prompting a surge of tweets and Facebook comments. The company turned to Twitter to respond.

If you’re a movie theater, you play movies.

If you’re 1-800 Flowers, you deliver flowers—especially on Valentine’s Day. This Feb. 14, however, the company failed to deliver hundreds of orders, sparking a firestorm of criticism made worse when wait times for its customer service line swelled.

“I want a letter of apology sent to my wife for failing as a business on the most important day of the year,” said one Twitter user, who clearly loves Valentine’s Day. (Most important day of the year?)

Media outlets noted that on its website, 1-800 Flowers displayed a message saying: “Stuck in the Valentine’s Day Doghouse? Get out with a wow.” Unless, of course, the company fails to bring the “wow.”
