5 key factors that will help—and hurt—a brand’s social sharing

By Michael Sebastian | Posted: October 4, 2012
Punctuation matters on social media.

The use of exclamation points and question marks can help, or hurt, the performance of a tweet or LinkedIn status update, according to a new study by content marketing firm Compendium.

That’s not all the study found.

Including numbers and hashtags affects the likelihood that someone will click a link in a tweet or LinkedIn update. Word count is another important factor.

The study analyzed the social media statistics of more than 200 business-to-business and business-to-consumer companies.

Compendium shared the results in this infographic, which reveals five key factors that affect a brand’s social sharing on LinkedIn and Twitter. It also covers the best times to post to social media content.
