Infographic: How the top 50 nonprofits do social media

This infographic from Craig Newmark—yes, the Craig of Craigslist—delves into the ways the nation’s 50 largest nonprofits handle social media. And by largest, it’s referring to the highest-earning nonprofits.

For instance, 92 percent of these nonprofits have at least one social media button on their homepages, and the most popular of those buttons is one for Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook, did you venture a guess as to the nonprofit with the most fans?

Here’s a hint: Bert and Ernie are probably among them.

Gave it away, didn’t I? Yes, the answer is PBS, with more than 840,000 fans. And considering Washington’s drive to cut funding for public television, let’s hope the organization is turning those fans into pledge donors.
